Founder spirit in Jena and Bruchsal

With the opening of the former Eastern Bloc countries in the 1990s, RA Consulting’s consulting activities expanded towards technology transfer and business development. In 1989, Armin Rupalla kick-started the establishment of the first Technology and Innovation Park (TIP) in Jena with the support of the TIP Jena development association (an association of numerous Baden-Württemberg companies). Initially housed in a former Stasi building, the incubator developed into and continues to be one of the most successful technology centers in the new German federal states to this day.

As head of the Steinbeis Transfer Center for Technical Consulting and Conversion for many years, Armin worked with a team of five on various publicly funded consulting assignments in the field of innovation management and conversion, e.g. via DtA, KfW, TACIS-EU program and UNIDO.

With the founding of the Ost-Academy in Bruchsal in 1992, RA Consulting organized practice-oriented knowledge transfer at the highest international level for hundreds of executives from Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Even back then, Martina Schmälzle was managing many topics for our small but very agile team as an assistant.

In 1991, the idea for the development of the Bruchsal Innovation and Business Center (BIG for short) was born, followed by the Technology Village Bruchsal (TED) in 1996. Together with the town of Bruchsal, Armin established in the Stegwiesen industrial area the headquarters of RA Consulting as well as numerous other medium-sized high-tech companies as TED Managing Director.
