Automated driving

Presentation at IEEE IAVVC

2025-09-25

At the IEEE International Automated Vehicle Validation Conference in Baden-Baden (Germany), our colleague Zhiyuan Zhang will give a presentation on “Validation of a Critical Driving Scenario Identification Algorithm for Automated Driving Functions” on 1 October.

Together with Kevin Simon from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), he will present new approaches for efficiently testing autonomous vehicles. During the project, AI-based algorithms were developed to detect critical scenarios in both road traffic and simulation environments. Zhiyuan and Simon will also demonstrate a universal validation method for criticality algorithms to validate automated driving functions. Their main aim is to reduce redundant data and increase the information density required for developing and testing ADAS/AD systems, ensuring coverage of rare but critical long-tail scenarios.

The presented paper is based on results of the European Research project KIsSME, in which RA Consulting participated as a software partner. After the IEEE IAVVC Conference, the paper will be available for download on IEEE Xplore.

IAVVC is a lead event focused on the dialogue between academia, industry and regulators with respect to the development, testing and validation of automated vehicle solutions and their integration intro digital and physical infrastructure.
