Release 3.0 live
DiagRA® S now also supports ODX and SAE J1939-21
2024-07-09
Version 3.0 of the DiagRA® S simulation tool offers numerous new functions for more convenient interpretation and easier handling of simulation data.
For example, DiagRA® S 3.0 users can now select ODX databases with the authoring tool for simulation files.
„Using this tool, raw simulation data can be interpreted more easily. It can help to make data analysis more efficient in the field of vehicle diagnostics and training. Furthermore, we have already integrated the ODX databases for mandatory emission diagnostics as standard in this latest version,” reports Dr. Alexander Karmazin, Deputy Head of Automotive Products.
In addition to the selection of ODX databases, the update features the integration of the SAE J1939-21 transport protocol. This enables the simulation of SAE J1939 via different communication channels. Existing simulation projects remain fully compatible.
The DiagRA® S simulation tool is ideally suited for use with the following products:
- DiagRA® D
- Silver Scan-Tool™
- DiagRA® LE
- DiagRA® Embedded
- DiagRA® Flash Station
- emotive Open Test Framework.
It can also be combined with diagnostic tools from other software suppliers that are based on common automotive standards such as CAN, DoIP, UDS, OBD, SAE J1939, D-PDU API, SAE J2534 API.

ODX Databases
DiagRA® S 3.0 provides an authoring tool for creating, validating and interpreting simulation files. It allows users to select one or more ODX databases and shows them which physical data is stored in the model. Raw response data in the simulation model can also be validated during creation.
The corresponding ECU variants can be selected automatically by the tool or manually by the user. DiagRA® S 3.0 supports users in completing missing diagnostic simulation data such as data identifiers, diagnostic sessions, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and other necessary simulation data. The ODX databases for legislated emission diagnostics (OBD, OBDonUDS / WWH-OBD / ZEVonUDS) are already integrated into the tool and will be updated regularly.

Transport protocol SAE J1939-21
Simulation of SAE J1939 at the application level according to OSI layer model SAE J1939-71 has been supported for a long time. The implementation of the SAE J1939-21 transport protocol now also enables simulation of SAE J1939 via the following communication channels: J2534 / RP1210 API, hardware simulation via the physical CAN bus and via socket CAN (under Linux). Existing simulation projects for SAE J1939 are fully compatible with the new functionality.
DiagRA® S 3.0 also supports the import of SAE J1939-21 data in ASC or DiagRA® D format.
Merging vehicle recordings
For a more efficient vehicle diagnostics, DiagRA® S 3.0 now makes it easier to merge several vehicle recordings into one simulation project.
If it is recognized during the import of diagnostic trace files that an ECU already exists in the simulation model, the user can now decide whether the existing simulation data should be retained, overwritten or merged. This specification can also be used as a setting when dealing with all other ECUs.

SAE J1699-3 Compliance test
The simulation for SAE J1699-3 compliance tests can now be used without restriction via all communication channels: J2534 / RP1210 API, hardware simulation via the physical CAN bus as well as via socket CAN (under Linux).
Extended user manual
The new version of our user manual contains even more details about modeling and setting options for DiagRA® S and Data Manager. It is available to all product users in the download area.
